The Charm of 1950s to 1960s American Sweatshirt Vintage Clothing

Vintage American sweatshirts from the 1950s and 1960s are a must-have for anyone who loves vintage fashion. Cotton from those days was known for its tight knitting and durability, and the more it was worn, the softer it became, giving it a unique texture. Later on, sweatshirts blended with polyester and acrylic appeared, and lightweight and quick-drying materials started to become popular, but the classic texture of 100% cotton is still exceptional.

With the desire to revive the charm of such sweatshirts from the 1950s and 1960s in the modern age, we have thoroughly analyzed the fabrics of those times and created a fabric that surpasses the original.

Comparison of vintage and prequel fabrics

By knitting with a slightly thicker yarn, we were able to achieve a firm thickness while maintaining the classic charm of the vintage. By using US cotton yarns made by open-end spinning, and by allowing them to contain just the right amount of air, a unique uneven texture is created on the surface, giving the fabric a rustic feel as if it were a reproduction of a sweatshirt from that era.

Furthermore, by using 7 count uneven yarn on the reverse side, we have faithfully reproduced the rough and warm raised texture of the sweatshirts of that time. This texture creates a special piece that is not just a sweatshirt, but one that reminds you of “that era.

Comparison of the back lining

The vintage sweatshirt in this photo is truly a piece with a unique taste created by being worn and washed many times. 100% cotton backed fabric was often used for sweatshirts made in the U.S. in the 1950s and 1960s. This material is characterized by the fact that the more it is worn, the more attractive it becomes.

Atmosphere of Lined Sweatshirts

Repeated washing loosens the fibers of the sweatshirt's inner lining, making it progressively softer and softer. This change creates an exquisite texture that feels comfortable against the skin, and the more you wear it, the more comfortable it becomes. This softness is something you can never experience with a new sweatshirt, and can only be felt after many years of wear. The fabric we have created this time reproduces the atmosphere of the vintage as it is and breathes new life into it.
