PREQUEL

The brand name "PREQUEL" represents the story before that story begins, as in a movie. The brand offers designs that incorporate details from old-time clothing into contemporary fashion. Presenting new styles as if inspired by stories from the past, the brand weaves a delightful story of clothing through timeless and sophisticated designs.

One of the characteristics of our items is that we are particular about fabrics. The photo above is a 100-year-old French fabric sample book. We create new fabric designs with reference to vintage fabrics, taking into consideration various factors such as the place of origin of the cotton, yarn spinning method, yarn count, dyeing method, number of beats, and finishing method. Our goal is to create great fabrics that are not influenced by trends and have a strong presence.

Precious fabrics were carefully removed from a 100-year-old sample book. The first step is a detailed analysis of the fabrics, followed by the creation of new fabrics rich in originality through skilled craftsmanship, while preserving the feel of the old fabrics.

We also focus on developing fabrics that are full of originality. Fabrics produced based on fictional stories are often unique and cannot be found anywhere else.

In making contemporary clothing, we also value elements that tell a story of the past. We fuse modern silhouettes with details from products of the past to create unique items.

Rather than reproducing products from the past as they were, we create products based on a fictional story with a silhouette that is easy to wear today. We reinterpret the essence of the past in a modern way to create new value.

We do not just make clothes, but we weave a new story from the memories of the past. This is the essence of “PREQUEL.
