1930s summer pants fabric
We will discuss the development of an item based on summer pants from the 1930s for release next spring.
PREQUEL has created an original oxford fabric based on the fabric of French officer's summer pants from around 1930. Vintage oxford fabrics have a moderate breathability and durability, and are suitable for prolonged wear. In order to reproduce this fabric, we cut out a portion from the original product and carefully studied the thread thickness, unevenness, and density of the weave.
The same yarn count and weave were used to faithfully reproduce the fabric, which was then used to make these summer pants.
This fabric is very nice to the touch and has a great depth of appearance. However, after making the sample, we noticed that the fabric was a bit transparent.
Thinking about how to solve the transparency problem, we tried a “blotting” process. This process fills in the gaps in the fabric and makes it less see-through, but there is one problem. The crushing process removes the unevenness of the fabric and makes it shinier. This gives a different impression from the original texture.

We wanted to reproduce the atmosphere of the original 1930s fabric as faithfully as possible, so in the end we decided to allow a certain amount of transparency and not to use a blotting process. This was because we felt that this fabric, with its unevenness and irregularity, was the charm of summer pants.
If you are concerned about the transparency of the fabric, you can adjust it with an inner layer and enjoy this item with the same atmosphere as it had at that time.
We will continue to make further improvements and progress toward next spring's release. Please look forward to it!
