プリクエルで使うオリジナルボタン

Buttons from 100 years ago

A 100-year-old button revived in the modern age: a small challenge to reprint a button.

This time, we have created a new reprinted button based on a valuable button from around 1920. The design is based on a button from 100 years ago. The detailed design and craftsmanship of the buttons show the high technology of the time. The original button was about 13.5 mm in size, which was a common size at that time. However, we at Puriquel have taken on the challenge of reproducing them in a slightly smaller size (11.0mm) to make them easier to use on modern shirts, while respecting the original design.

The smallness of the buttons is immediately apparent when you hold them in your hands. When we first tried to make them using a mold, we could not reproduce the beauty of the originals because the small letters and designs were crushed. At this point, questions came to mind such as “Is it impossible to reproduce this size?” and “Was 13.5 mm the limit at the time? Still, we did not give up and continued to search for the optimal production method by trying various methods and materials. After many tests, we finally found a way to perfectly reproduce the small design by casting.

Although the size difference may seem small at first glance, it was not easy to faithfully reproduce the details of the original, especially in the smaller sizes. However, we overcame this challenge and were able to achieve the same excellent finish as 100 years ago. This finish reminds us once again of the high level of skill of Japanese craftsmen.

The thickness and atmosphere of the buttons were made as close as possible to the originals.

Our reissued button is not just a button, but a special accessory filled with history and tradition. We hope you will take this button in your hand and feel its delicate design and deep history.
