The Story Born from a Buckle
Prequel is currently crafting a new belt that brings together France-made bridle leather and a completely original buckle design inspired by the vintage aesthetics of the 1920s and 1930s.
Our goal is to launch it in Fall/Winter 2026.
At this very moment, we are carefully refining and tailoring the sample.
A single piece where both leather and buckle take the lead—
today we’ll introduce one of the most essential stages in its development: deciding the ideal thickness of the buckle.

■ Timeless Bridle Leather: The Foundation of the Belt
What makes this leather exceptional is:
Remarkable fiber density
A refined luster that gradually emerges over time
A patina that deepens with every wear
Unmatched durability
…truly premium in every aspect.
To create a buckle that stands with confidence beside such a distinguished material, this development began by designing our own original die-cutting mold from the ground up.

■ The 1920–30s Design Ethos, Reimagined for Modern Style
A silhouette that carries the subtle fragrance of Art Deco—
classic, yet quietly dignified with a modern sensibility.
“Not mere nostalgia—
a form that naturally blends into the way we dress today.”
Guided by this philosophy, every curve and detail has been refined and reconstructed countless times.

■ The Power of 0.5mm: A Small Difference, A Lasting Impression
Once the mold is complete, the base of the buckle—its original core—is die-cut from brass plates.
For comparison, we tested two thicknesses: 2mm and 2.5mm.
Only 0.5mm apart, yet the difference is undeniable:
The weight when resting in your hand
The visual elegance and presence
The overall aura of the belt
…each shifts dramatically with a change so subtle.
2mm felt swift and light.
2.5mm carried richer gravity and character.
After careful consideration, the choice became clear.
“A balance of refined elegance, meaningful weight, and quiet strength.”
That vision aligned perfectly with 2.5mm—and so, our direction was set.

■ Next Step: Stamping the Identity
With thickness decided, the next process is embossing and stamping the surface.
Right now, the buckle plate is still raw material—just a metal form.
But the moment the stamp lands, it transforms.
It becomes Prequel.
It becomes the face of the belt.
It becomes the moment the design gains a soul.
A buckle alone can change the story of a belt.
And this is where that story finally takes shape.
Our excitement only grows as we approach completion.
We truly can’t wait to see the final sample come to life.
