FRENCH WABASH is born from an imagined intersection—where early 20th-century American workwear meets the refined graphic sensibility of 1930s France. The starting point was a French printed textile ledger, filled with geometric stripes and rhythmic motifs that carried both elegance and structure. We asked a simple question: what if these designs had encountered indigo?
The answer unfolds on a deep indigo ground, where discharge printing reveals crisp dots and stripes with striking clarity. Unlike ordinary printing, discharge removes color from the dyed fabric itself, creating sharp contrast and subtle depth within the cloth. As the indigo fades with wear, the pattern evolves, gaining character over time.
Echoing the spirit of classic Wabash once worn by laborers, yet refined through French aesthetics, this fabric balances rugged authenticity with compositional grace. It is not reproduction, but reinterpretation—heritage reimagined through craftsmanship and imagination.
