No.5004

This original fabric was inspired by the reversible camouflage pattern adopted by the U.S. military in the 1940s. It features a beige and green camouflage herringbone base fabric, which is then dyed in a deep indigo navy. The design is intended so that as the garment is worn, the indigo gradually fades, slowly revealing the hidden camouflage pattern. The “Duck Hunter Camo” that served as the motif is said to have caused misidentification and friendly fire on the battlefield because it closely resembled enemy camouflage. We created a fictional story in which the fabric was re-dyed with indigo to prevent such friendly fire. This is not merely a reproduction of military fabric; it is a fabric that “translates the past into the present,” with a story that emerges through time and fading.
