A new striped shirt for today.
The story of the S1031 Striped Shirt begins with an old fabric archive. Among its pages, we found delicate stripes woven with small geometric and flower-like motifs. From a distance, they seem simple. Up close, each line reveals a different expression.
The care and complexity of these fabrics still surprise us more than a century later. We wanted to carry that character into a textile that would feel natural in a present-day wardrobe.
Our starting point was the dobby weave, with patterns formed by the interlacing of yarns. Its fine relief and subtle shadows give the stripes depth within the cloth itself.
We reconsidered the yarns, weave and finish, preserving the atmosphere that first drew us to the original while developing a fabric suited to everyday wear. This became PREQUEL’s original Forgotten Path Dobby.
Color took just as much consideration. A small change in the ground color alters the entire stripe; stronger or softer motif colors bring a different balance. Drawing on the archive, we explored these combinations through repeated simulations.
We settled on Beige, Blue and Green. Each has its own character, connected by a gentle, slightly nostalgic mood.
The finished cloth is delicately brushed to soften its surface. We paid attention to the balance between the small woven motifs and the gentle feel against the skin.
Forgotten Path Dobby becomes the S1031 Striped Shirt: a shirt to reach for in everyday life, with denim, chinos or work trousers. The detailed weave offers something to appreciate each time it is worn.
