Our new leather jacket is currently in production. Along the way, we’ve been refining a few details from the sample, including the ribbed waistband.

The sample used a heavier wool yarn in a single-layer rib, without a fold. It was easier to produce, but the rib tended to wrinkle when the jacket was hanging or laid flat. We weren’t quite happy with how it looked.

We wanted to try a folded rib using a slightly finer yarn. Getting there took some work: the yarn wouldn’t run on the knitting machine, or the finished rib came out too short.

With help from people we’ve worked with over the years, we finally managed to make the rib we had in mind.

We’re looking forward to seeing it on the finished jacket.
